—Finished last-minute prep for class
—Grabbed a coffee and a paper at the 7/11
—Taught 2 classes
—Office hour
—Returned email and phone messages
—Agreed to give a short lecture on the history of the novel and Jane Austen at 8:30 tomorrow morning for an honors class
—Constructed evaluation form for Composition II that gives me some meaningful information and bears some resemblance to the outcome goals
—Met with book reps from Bedford/St. Martin’s
—Begin prepping for a meeting at 2:00
—Drafted some boilerplate language for all Composition classes concerning students who do not have the pre-requisites
—Printed out all materials needed for the 2:00 meeting
—Worked on an article I’ve been drafting from the Summer
—Writing was interrupted by an email regarding our campus directory. My information was incorrect and needed to be updated.
—Back to writing.
—Got to page 22 of 28. This is the hard part, since I’m cutting down long quotes and shoring up the structure, which is constantly shifting as I make changes.
—Chatted with my mother, my wife, and a friend on IM intermittently while doing all of this.
—Off to my meeting.
—Meeting successful. All agenda items completed and ready to be sent to the department for approval.
—Head home to prep for tomorrow’s classes and rest before my soccer match at 5:30.
—Eating a bit of lunch (3:30 pm)
—Back to grading
—Finished grading one section’s daily work.
—Grading conference paper writeups
—20 minute nap
—Soccer match (lost, 2-1, but my touch seems to have come back significantly since the last match)
—Ankle seems to have gotten injured somehow in the match, but I didn’t notice until I got home
—Back to writing up comments
—Consider whether it is strange to recommend two articles of mine to a student working on something I have done a great deal of work on. Decided against it. If she finds it, she finds it.
—Cleaned up cat pee (one of our cats marks her territory by peeing over the edge of the litterbox. Luckily our floors are concrete)
—Watching Medium. Reading for tomorrow’s morning class. Decided to push back returning comments on a presentation until Thursday.
