After reading, a few months ago, that one of the hallmarks of fascism is the rendering of politics as an aesthetic event, I have found myself unable to get energized about American politics anymore.
It’s just too goddamned depressing.

There are no senior US politicians who have the slightest notion of what it means to dress with a bit of fascist flair, so you may be safe for now. Obama may be the most stylish president since Kennedy, but he’s no Pilsudski.

Plus, much of the revulsion I’ve seen of the TP is at least partly on aesthetic grounds. Just this morning, the Aged Parent commented, “It’s not just that his[1] ideas are dead wrong, but he’s just so TACKY!”
